How it works

Three steps between
eBay and a clean ledger.

Step 01
Connect
Authorise eBay Managed Payments and FreeAgent via OAuth. Under two minutes, no passwords stored.
Step 02
Merge
Each night we pull the day's eBay activity, group it by type, and create the right FreeAgent documents — invoice, bill, credit note.
Step 03
Reconcile
Wake up to a fully posted FreeAgent ledger. Payouts arrive auto-explained as bank transfers — green ticks on both sides, no manual matching.
What a day of eBay activity becomes in FreeAgent
Each day's transactions are grouped and posted as proper FreeAgent documents — not raw bank entries.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is TransactionMerge really free?

Yes — it's completely free during the public beta and no credit card is required. At launch it will be £9.99/month, but beta members lock in £9.99/month for life, and you'll get at least 30 days' notice before any billing starts.

Do you store my eBay or bank passwords?

No. You connect eBay and FreeAgent through their official OAuth flows, so we never see or store your passwords. Our access to eBay is read-only — we never sell, list, or message on your account.

Will syncing again create duplicate entries?

No. Every eBay transaction carries a unique ID, so re-running a sync never creates a double entry — even when date ranges overlap between runs.

Does it work for personal eBay accounts, not just business?

Yes. TransactionMerge detects your eBay account type and handles payouts correctly for both business and personal sellers.

I'm VAT registered — does it handle VAT?

Yes. If you're VAT registered, VAT is broken out per invoice line, and you can set per-listing rates so each sale is recorded with the correct treatment.

Do I need FreeAgent already?

Yes, you'll need a FreeAgent account to sync into. FreeAgent is included free with Mettle, NatWest Business and Royal Bank of Scotland business accounts, so it may already be free for you.

TransactionMerge is a data synchronisation tool only and does not provide accounting, tax, or VAT advice. You are responsible for reviewing all transactions posted to FreeAgent and for your own accounting and VAT obligations. Always consult a qualified accountant if you are unsure. See our Terms of Service for full details.
